Dead man standing

Despite emerging alive at the Harare international airport from Singapore, president Mugabe was a mere shadow of himself. His arrival in Harare has not in any way put to rest the hype on his deteriorating health. Instead the pictures coming from the Harare international airport have increased the speculation of a much awaited death. A couple of days ago there were indications Mugabe would not return alive and the masses had lined up celebrations in the streets of Harare in anticipation of his death. The tottering octogenarian has however defied all odds by cheating death once more, much to the chagrin of his enemies-the people of Zimbabwe.

However anyone who saw him bears testimony to a dead man moving. Mugabe has surely become a scare crow, darting one leg after another like a child learning to walk. This is in sharp contrast to the image of fitness the old man has always tried to portray and has left no one with any doubt the man is dying. That Mugabe is alive has indeed been confirmed and too is the stark reality that the Octogenarian is in his dying days. It wont be long before we hear the 'sad' news that will send wild celebrations across the country.

What we just saw was not a scare on the president's life but a naked fact that the man is not really immortal as ZANU PF would want us to believe. All sane people will therefore demand a smooth transition before Mugabe succumbs to the inevitable. The is no better time than the present to transfer power to an able bodied successor. In his current state Mugabe is a retarded disabled leader and very unfit to steer the ship. It is nearly obvious that the country will degenerate into chaos if Mugabe dies in power. It is imperative that Mugabe be forced into retirement to save the future of Zimbabwe.
