He has defied all odds and pitted against the best, he has proven his mettle. At the the beginning of the season no one would have given him a chance against two of the world's most expensively assembled squads. The Spanish La-Liga is not an easy league to
play in if your are not Real Madrid or Barcelona. These two teams sit at the pinnacle of Europe's rich list and money will always attract the best players.

With his top marksman, Falcao, sold to Monaco last summer it was even a bigger challenge for Diego Simeone to supercede last season's performance that saw Athletico Madrid clinch the Europa title. But he has done wonders with mostly average players to win La-Liga for the first time since 1995/96 when he won it with the same team as a player. He has all the hallmarks of a great coach, one that can turn average players into super heroes.

En-route to the champions league final Athletico never lost a match and they have gunned big guns like AC Milan, Barcelona and Chelsea. But they will start as underdogs against their much fancied city rivals Real Madrid, who most analysts tip to win. I'm however convinced Simeone will will defy the odds once more to claim the big prize. I have no doubt, win or lose the champions league, most top clubs will will fight for his signature this summer.
