Fierce protests erupt in Ferguson over the grand jury’s
decision not to indict the white police officer who shot and killed the unarmed
black teenager Michael Brown. It has become apparent that it is a serious crime to
be a black male in America. Scenes in Ferguson reflect a war zone with
buildings set on fire and cars ablaze. And more cities joined in solidarity with
the people of Ferguson.
Reporters allege that the prosecutor colluded with the
defense
to make sure that Wilson is found not guilty. This coming just days after another 12 year old black boy was shot dead by police for dangling a toy gun in the air. There is serious racial profiling in the United States that has virtually rendered it a crime to be black in America. Not long ago a black actress in the company of his white boyfriend was arrested for loitering at night. The officer who arrested her could only imagine her as a hooker. The cases for black harassment for blacks are uncountable and this particular case was just the straw that breaks the camel’s back. Even Barak Obama struggled to pen a statement to condemn the use of violence to air grievances. There are more blacks in American prisons than those in college and it’s a stark reality that the not so black, black president is struggling to live with. His statement on the Ferguson protest clearly indicates that Obama does not want to be seen as a black president. The divide between blacks and whites has widened in America during Obama’s tenure as president. There is so much polarization in American society that it was only a matter of time before tensions exploded.

The irony of it all is that it is happening at a time when
there is a black man in power. Could Obama have done more to reform the
American justice system? How does the African American society view Obama’s
response to the crisis? Obama himself contends that this is not simply a
Ferguson case but it transcend across the entire American nation.
It’s a fallacy that America is a democracy. True democracy
does not exist, only good intentions emerge. While the American government
serves the interests of the majority of its white population, there are grave
injustices committed against the people of color. Its justice system is a farce
and gives overwhelming power to law enforcement agencies. Unfortunately the
average American is ill aware of the propaganda machinery of the state. The
United States government has planted its agents to head virtually every media
house policy formulation. Thus every news channel churns out uninterrupted nationalist
propaganda that the brain washed American public has even come to love.
